About Jennifer Cattet Ph.D.
Motivated by a strong desire to help owners understand their dogs, Jennifer Cattet Ph.D. has spend close to 30 years teaching and coaching dog lovers and professionals on how to better relate and work with them.

American citizen, born in the US, Jennifer Cattet spent over 20 years of her life in Europe where she started her career as a dog trainer. After struggling with some of the training philosophies and techniques of the time, she quickly entered a more academic path to learn better ways to interact with dogs. She studied Experimental and Cognitive Psychology and later worked as a research assistant in the Ethology Department of the Geneva University (Switzerland) where she completed a doctorate on dog cognition.

With her main focus on the human/pet relationship, she published a book in French (Le Chien, un Loup Civilise) with Dr Evelyne Teroni. The book brought the scientific studies of the time on dog behavior to the general public and is now one of the most referenced books in French speaking countries. Jennifer Cattet also produced a video on clicker training for the French public.

Back in the U.S, Jennifer Cattet Ph.D. worked as the Director of Training for a service dog organization where she taught incarcerated men and women how to train service dogs through clicker training. She was also involved in studies on the dogs' ability to detect low sugar levels in people with type 1 diabetes. She now uses that extensive knowledge to train Diabetes Alert Dogs (www.MedicalMutts.com).
Today, Jennifer Cattet also works with Smart Animal Training System on the promotion of reward based training and the development of technology to support it (www.SmartAnimalTraining.com).
